Swimming with sharks

As part of our one-day mega visit to all the parks of Disney World we had a special back stage tour in the Epcot Aquarium. This is one of the biggest in the world, with a bout 3500 animals including sharks and stingrays. You are allowed to actually swim and dive in it. So we did!
So just the two of us were waving to surprised people watching through the glass windows seeing us swimming between the green turtles (huge animals), the groupers and the sharks of course. It was real fun to do so.

Don Cesar

Here are we staying right now: the Don Cesar Resort. It is a huge pink castle of St. Pete Beach. (That is short for St. Petersburg - when I asked the receptionist whether the beach used to be called Stali Beach, so looked completely blank... She never heard of an other St. Petersburg or even a Stalingrad... )

Ringling Museum of Art

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art was established in 1927 as the legacy of John Ringling the famous Circus owner. The Museum of Art offers 21 galleries of European paintings many of Rubens, but a lot Dutch, French and Italian painters as well. The estate features the spectacular Cà d'Zan ("House of John"), a waterfront mansion. There is also a Circus Museum displays costumes, wagons, performance equipment, and other artifacts chronicling the history of the Circus. The beautifully landscaped grounds are overlooking Sarasota Bay.
It is amazing what John collected and it is by far the most beautiful museum I ever saw in Southern USA.

Edison laboratory

Edison laboratory in Floria was based in his Fort Meyers mansion. He stayed their during the winter months. His neighbor was henry Ford, who used to work for the Edison Company (now General Electric) The houses and lab are open to the public, so we had to take a look. Thomas Alva Edison is one of my heroes, so many patents, so many inventions. We were at his lab exactly 75 after he died on October 18th, 1931.

Sanibel

A tropical dream near Fort Meyers, Sanibel is a quiet island with white sandy beaches, tropical palm trees and... sea shells. Millions of shells actually coming out of the bay of Mexico.
We found some small sized for in one of our poche de vide collection trays.
The resort we are staying is excellent and they even have a decent kitchen.

Michael Tchong

I have known Michael for a long time now and he is one of the few remaining trend watchers in the valley who stills survives. He was invited at the conference to talk about his ubertrends. It was a good solid story and he was immedeately asked by the NAR to talk in New Orleans in November. We talked about the internet roller coaster ride of the last 5 years and exchanged some gossip.

I was interviewed on stage by Brad about the real estate en technology developments in Europe and things went very well. the audience were people involved with high end real estate ($10 million plus). De rest of the conference was less interesting so I left it for what it was and had discussions with Thijs instead. Thijs surprised us all in picking up the tab for lunch this time :-)

We visited Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. We were just in time to join the Nasa Up Close tour, which takes you closer to all the existing areas then any other possibility. We got the see the launch pads for the shuttle and the assambly building where they put the shuttle together. It took more then 4 hours to see everything, but it was worthwhile.
Not a sign though of our own Wubbo and Andre...
