Something like this would do...

Funday

In the new "pakhuis" media center we had our yearly FUNDAy with everyone from funda. We were talking about the budget 2007, the future and the brand. Afterwards we had dinner at Fifteen, the local version of Jamie Olivier's restaurant.

Protein

I started this week with anew diet: Protein Power. The diet is based on the assumption that men never used Carbs only until the last 100 years or so. So we have to leave out as much carbs as possible (sounds familiar...) The nice thing is that you can eat as much as you like without the blown up feeling and that I have lost 2 kilos already. Probably that is mostly water. The problem is of course that I don't want to lose weight: I want to GAIN weight. Let's see how the situation is a couple of weeks into this diet.

Ice skating

In search of higher ratings Dutch television is getting completely bonkers. Both RTL and SBS have scheduled exactly the same show (ice skating with (B) Stars) at the same time slot of Fridays. SBS is winning in ratings but RTL has a secret weapon: He is called Joel Mans, or should I say Brad Patton. This second rated holiday on ice skater had an other career on the site as a gay porn star. So we do not have to be sorry for him when he falls on his bum during skating, because that bum is used to some serious pounding already... :-)

Nokia strikes back

The Nokia Aeon concept phone shows us that Nokia -as Apple- is thinking of touch screens and large displays. I guess our cell phone will change revolutionary in the coming two years.

Barack for president!

watch the video!

New Year Party

We had a virtual New Year's party this afternoon at our own chalet in Second Life. More then 100 "people"showed up and we danced, drank and talked. Here you see me with Rain Ruska (aka Marijn)

Muscles

T-shirt

Playing Cowboys...

Calender

The youth of the Berlin area of Marzahn-Hellerdorf want to promote their living area. They thought a nude calender would do the trick. If only we weren't so distracted from the lovely mill by something else... ;-)

cannot wait!

Best Picture

The Dutch photographer Laurens Aaij has won best (domestic news) picture with his image of the horses that were stuck last year on a piece of land in Marum. The lighting and composition is excellent. I wouldn't know what to enhance with Photoshop - or could it be that it is already photoshoped? (maybe the white horse was brown to begin with...)

Google browser sync

Although I was moaning about google's gmail not being able to have two windows at the same time. The guys of google are helping me to sync between home and work in an other way: the Google browser sync option in firefox. It works brilliantly and all of my search, cookies and bookmarks are always in sync.
As with all services of Google it is still in BETA. (everything seems to be BETA nowadays, but that's an other story)

Gmail Lockdown

My Gmail account got locked down a couple of times in the past week. The reason given provided no clue as to what I might be guilty of. Since I use Gmail more and more as my primary account, getting it locked down is not a nice thing, to say the least... I wrote to the e-mail address given asking for the reasons. As usual I got the standard reply which asked me to write back if anything in a list of no-no’s was applicable to me. :-(
It looks like Gmail will lock your account if it is accessed at the same time from two different places. The problem is that I access Gmail from work and home, and as I reboot the computer at work only once a month at best and at home maybe ones a year, Gmail is always open.
But, the problem I feel is with Gmail itself. It automatically refreshes every two minutes. Users should atleast have the option to switch the two minute page refresh off.
The message that was displayed when the account was locked said upto 24 hours, but it was unlocked within a few minutes.

Google image labeler

Google has a new game (and a new beta service...) It is called Google image labeler and what it does is to let you tag manually images they have found on the internet. So while playing this game, their database is getting richer and richer. :-)
You play with at random somebody else online. If your tag and the other persons tag match, you get points.
As you can imagine I labeled the pictures above (courtesy from my friends from the naked rugby league) with the tags, beach, sea, tattoo and.. uh.. ;-)

Wallendorf

The Wallendorf meissen factory is centuries old but still they are up to date. They just introduces special figurines fro gay marriages...
I have not find a place (online) where you can buy them though.

happy planet index

What makes you happy? A question asked by people around the world. There is a way to find out by visiting the happy planet index website and do the test. I seem to be very happy (maybe even gay) :-)

Join the Army!

I know nothing: I am from Barcelona!

An other old series we are watching is Fawlty Towers and although we have seen every episode hundreds of times, it is still very funny.

Vito of the Sopranos

The first part of the sixth season of the Sopranos is on DVD and Eddie and me needed one and a half days to watch all 12 episodes...
Vito revealed himself in the fifth season to have some proclivities of the not-so-wise-guy sort. On a construction job, Meadow's boyfriend Finn walked on him performing oral sex on a security guard -- of the male persuasion. Now he is out of the closet and finds love. Consequently he is murdered of course because this is still mafia :-)
Never the less: we had some nice scenes of two guys falling in love in a series that usually is showing us two guys killing each other.

Trent Vanegas

One of the more funnier blogs I follow (and one of the most successfull ones is Trent Vanegas blog: Blogebrity. Check it out.

Eli Asser

I am very happy that after 30 years the comedy series 'T schaep met de vijf Pooten" is remade. It used to be one of my favorite series and I think that the old script has stand the test of time. The only difference is that I now watch the series via Internet at the time when it suits me...

New Year's Eve

We celebrated New Year's Eve with my mother and brother (and his girl friend) in Koekange way out in Drenthe (in the east of The Netherlands). We expected a quiet evening but were in fact treated by the local farmers at the most and loudest bangs in my life :-)

The secret lives of Arab men...

The photographer Jeroen Kramer has done a "study" on how Arab men interact with each other and guess what? They are far more intimate then we Western guys are... :-)

Leo Vroman

One of my favorite writers and poets is Leo Vroman. Even now in his middle 90's he writes and makes jokes as usual. He is also a famous biologist in the USA, where he and his wife Tineke (whom is a character in many of his books). My favorite book so far: "Het carnarium". But now he has published his biography which as many ingredients to make it a sure winner. E.g. Vroman fled as a Jew the Netherlands before WWII to the Dutch Indies only to fall into the hands of the Japanese a little bit later...

Tribute to Joe Barbera: Tom & Jerry

I really like the cartoons of Hanna & Barbera. Most of all the Tom & Jerry ones. Great humor and a lot of gags in a fast tempo. This is one of my all time favorites where they actually make up during Xmas...

All time Box Office

According to the boxofficemojo website if you adjust the box office top ten of all time with inflation you get a surprising different chart.

Time website top 50

Of all the best 50 websites of the year lists, I think that the Time's list of coolest websites is probably best. I liked yelp, The9 and Burb as new websites on this list that I did not know yet.

Last Xmas dinner

Yesterday we had the last of the Xmas dinner series: with "the girls". We had an excellent dinner at The Grand (yes again...). Mother Mien is getting a new hip in April and she is already starting to worry about that. I guess that when it is done she forgot what the worry was all about :-)

Xmas dinner

After a quiet day we had dinner with No&Go and kids. I had prepared traditional fare with a modern touch (Lobster warp with cocktail sauce, Turkey burgers with cranberry sauce etc.)
We had a great time. We had bought little presents for everybody: here you see Mike with his new Abercrombie T-shirt.
Unfortunately I have the cold right now, so things are not running as smoothly as I want them to... :-|

Mickey

While watching the Jane Mansfield DVD collection, I keep on thinking of her husband: Mickey Hargitay, former Mr Universe... I don't know why :-))

Xmas with funda

Last Thursday we had Christmas dinner with the funda team at The Grand. It was a great dinner, good food and even better company.

Hate Crime in Arizona

Detectives continue to search for as many as seven men suspected in the Sunday beating of Jean Rolland, 28, and Andrew Frost, 19, as more people voiced their support for the victims of the hate crime. The couple were leaving dinner at Frasher's Steakhouse near McDowell and Scottsdale roads when they were assaulted by a group of men shouting an anti-gay slur, police said

Marque Renegade

On secondlife my nick is Marque Renegade and usually I am wandering around in Amsterdam and surroundings. Funda is building its own ski hut fro our new years reception. It's almost finished.

Good old Matt

We thanks to emule, I just got my hand on the ultimate Matt Bianco MP3 collection. With all my favorites but some new tracks as well.

Will it blend?

Watch this video in which the guy from blendtec demonstrates how to "blend" an iPod... Great way to get free PR for a blender...

It;s Xmas time (again)

So the funda offices are swamped with good intended "presents"... Here Joost is showing our latest addition :-)

Dessert in La Rive

OK I admit: I did photoshop it a little, just to make it even more tastier...

I remember Robert Long part II

I was a little surprised when I opened The Telegraaf this morning. Apparently Kristof found my name in an old archive and added to the list of mourners.. I am not happy that Bob is dead, but not sad as well, so I rather was not in the list... :-)

Josine van Dalsum

Is it Marijn or Josine van Dalsum, recovering of her cancer radiation therapy...?

Stars again

After Savelberg, Bokkedoorns it was time for yet an other star restaurant: La Rive in Amsterdam. We had partridge which was unfortunately not more then reasonable...
The atmosphere however was perfect thanks to Evert and his dedicated team.

Twenty Years Eddie& Marque!

Together with No & Go we celebrated today that we are twenty years together (and 5 years married) The Bokkedoorns prepared a wonderful meal and we received nice presents.
