Meanwhile at the RNC in Tampa

My new action man?

The felt dolls of the board books of Cozy Classics are hilarious. Look at Pride and Prejudice or Moby Dick. I don't really think the books will be a huge success - but as soon as the start selling the dolls...

Novation Launchpad

Thinking of Zedd and Madeon I am planning to try out Ableton Live in combination with a Novation Launchpad myself. The only thing is - where to buy it?

The new Mozart is called Zedd

I like the way music is produced now-a-days. While I am still composing with sequencers (like Reason) the new thing is music controllers in combination with loops and samples. Creating completely new music out of existing ones. Madeons' Popculture is a good example (18 years old). But the best I think is Zedd (Anton Zaslavski), 22 years old from Kaiserslautern. Listen to his The Legend of Zelda mix or the awesome Slam The Door and you now why everone want to record with him. Also these guys create their own fame - without record company, without even an album. Just Youtube and Soundcloud and a bit of Beatport. Read this nice article about Zedd in the NYT.

Organized Elections

With the Romney - Obama battle you would almost forget that in The Netherlands we have an election too. These are -as everything- highly regulated and organized. Even the size of the election posters is standardized. And if you look more closely also the colors (red, white, blue, orange, green and purple)

He is waiting for us

We booked our trip to Borneo - cannot wait to see all our relatives in the jungle...

Why did Bieb changed his hair?

And... you would think you could afford some pants that actually fit :-)

Snälla Andreas igen

Han blir inte fulare ;-)

Meanwhile on a beach somewhere

Exactly how gay are you?

hmmm... I am not sure seeing the guys in this illustration if I want to be in the 6 range... I feel more at ease at #2...

Why would you wear socks in bed?

Maybe he doesn't know himself as well and that's the reason he's staring as he is... (nice color match though...)

Davids' statue

Like a sort real life "Rocky" David Beckham statues are popping up everywhere. It is a new campaign from H&M for his underwear range. Shame only that the real David isn't looking nearly as good anymore as his statue...

Therapik Bug Bite Relieving Gadget

After the raving review on Gizmodo I ordered the Therapik (terrible website) - now with the heatwave in Amsterdam the bugs are coming as well and I really HATE them. (and they me...)

The day a cat stole my bike

This cat is obviously not afraid of my rattle snake buddy seat...

Modern Life...

Bon apetit!

Today is Julia Childs' 100th birthday - so I have to prepare one of her signature dishes: Boeuf Bourguignon anyone?

It gets boring: D66 again...

According to stemwijzer (vote advisor) my best choice for the upcoming september elections would be liberals (D66) - something that they keep on telling me for the last hundred years or so and I meekly follow in the voting booth. (see the high score of the communist SP? scary!)

How to hunk?

In the fifties there was all of a sudden this new craze at some US universities: squating the asian way - or hunking as it was called then. You can see on the photo above that some guys couldn't really hunk at all (second and forth from the left). It looks fun though... I wonder why it never came really in fashion and stayed that way - to difficult after all?

Things go better with Coke

The day I ran naked...

Thanks to the article of Mark Singer in the New Yorker  I was wondering why I always run like a laboratory rabbit completely wired up? So I decided to run "naked". No Nike fuel band, No Nike GPS watch, No Nike plus sensor, No Polar heartbeat sensor, No iPod, even No shirt. Just some (Nike free) shoes and shorts (for my keys). It felt really weird running around like that. Very much aware of my breathing and sound of my shoes on the pavement. Nothing to check, not sure when to turn around...
After awhile though things got better and I felt actually free - nothing to worry about :-)
But no stats after my run either:  Length,  duration, heartbeat, pace - nothing.
I must admit that I am not sure what to do now? Maybe alternate wired with free?

Hmmm...

Before The Internet...

How to run a marathon while not running at all...

Mark Singers' excellent and hilarious piece in this weeks New Yorker about a Michigan dentist who cheated at dozens of marathons (even inventing his own) in order to get...what? credibility? The more capabilities to sharing stuff the more stupid stuff we are doing in order to brag about it... ;-))
This dentist really took it a nudge to far and got lost in his own tricks and lies.

New week - New Gal

This weeks' discovery on spotify is Chris Connor - I really like her 50's albums. She is very COOL (like the title of this album - "The cool voice"

Reason revisited

Now that my swedish study is over and done with it's time for something new. Making & producting music is always been a passion of mine - so what better then to pick up where I left Reason and with the help of my teacher Jord try to create some music :-)

Boring sundays?

An other sunday an other 16K run - during running I can not think of anything else then running. Maybe better this way beacuse my sundays are really predictable this way...

Found in Stockholm

Very up-to-date dish out of the 18th century...

I am a prisoner of Nike Fuel

Since I am wearing my Nike Fuel band I have to check my status at least 10 times a day - I wonder: am I a prisoner of this device or what? Can I ever return to a normal life (without fuel stress)?

The week I discovered the amazing Susannah McCorkle

How did I ever listened to music before Spotify and even more: how did I discover new music and artists? I really have no clue :-)
So hurray again for spotify to help me to come across Susannah McCorkle. She was a very gifted singer indeed - her diction is truly outstanding and her repertoire consists of familiar and (quirky) new songs. Listen to her Most requested Songs album e.g.
Ashame that I wasn't able to see and hear her live and that she left us way to soon.

Maybe I have to watch the OS 2012 afterall...

Meanwhile somewhere else

Why the maximum speed on the A2 is only 100 kph...

left: after 7 months - right: new
We had to change our flags today because only after seven(!) months the current flags are a piece of junk - the smog is so bad here along the highway that a nice flag will deteriorate amazingly fast...

D&G coke shirts

In the D&G fall/winter 2012 gym collection you will find these nice Coca-Cola T shirts. Before you order some: they are €145 a piece. (ok, with free shipping) Oops!

Logo's

real ugly
Best until now

Probably the best of all time
The Olympic games started  - yet an other reason not to turn on the TV... But I am still amazed who ordered and approved the London 2012 Olympic logo? It is ugly like hell! Compare it to the Rio 2016 design and you know why Brazil is up and coming and the UK out and going...

"Woody Allen a documentary" is a must see

Why is it so hard to get a decent DVD/blue ray collection of Woody Allens' movies? They are available in all kinds of different "collections" set boxes comprising of 5 or 6 films... So you gather an overlap titles. It would have been nice to make a 75 year tribute box with all of his 40plus movies (and some extra's). Watching the excellent PBS documentary by Robert B. Weide really makes you want to see the movies once more...

summer peach pie by marque

If you're quick: there are some slices left...

@moto(r)media

Nike Performance Air Max + 2012

New running zapatos :-)

Robin rises

I saw Batman Rises on IMAX and it was awesome! A rollercoaster ride of almost 3 hours :-). The best thing is of course that Robin is back in the person of Jake(Robin) Blake played by  Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Abercrombie & Fitch from Holland

Funny that when you buy stuff from A&F in the states it comes (virtually) from Amsterdam... (tax reasons?)

Tom of Finland in Sweden

In Kulturhuset Stockholm there is a small exibition about Tom of Finland (in a small dark room). The funny thing is that you can also buy vintage Kake or other TOF magazines. Because of Taschen I already have the reprinted versions - so I didn't bought any.

wonderbum?

Is this the wonderbra for men? These special underwear give your bum a...uh..lift! Looks like this guy really enjoys them...

The day I erased my Google Plus account...

After a year of trying to like Google plus and to actually start using it - I quit today. It really has no additional value for me. I definitely do not like Google search results altered by location or plus settings/updates. I know that you can turn that off - which I did, but even though...
Maybe in the future I change my mind but for now it is only (limited) Facebook and path as social platforms.

I need my (nike) FUEL

I was so stupid not to buy my Nike Fuel in Austin during SXSW - So I had to wait till today before I could order my own. So coming soon: my fuel updates!

Spiderman - the final episode

Jeroen Huijben
Andrew Garfield

Spiderboy
The latest Spiderman movie is really a disaster - it will be the final episode of this franchise I guess... Boring story, stupid script and who thought that Andrew Garfield is a appealing Spiderman? Have a quick glance at the picture of (Dutch) International Mathematical Olympiadgold winner Jeroen Huijben and that of Andrew with his Nerd Glasses and notice the resemblance...
The back of Andrew is really the best side :-)

Ice Age 4: a fun ride

Nice 3D, simple story, but a fun afternoon summerflick. 4 is enough though.
Oh: and the Simpsons short starring Maggie the Baby is probably better then the feature film.
