Slowly, Amsterdam turns orange in anticipation of April 30th

Paris: the week after

Amazingly it has only been 1 week when we had a super duper time in Paris with Karen & Tom. It seems ages because we had so much fun and so many things to do, see and shop for.

Maybe I get lucky...

I really like the new Daft Punk "Get Lucky". It is a sweet mix of Disco, Funky grooves. Maybe I make an own version of it when Reason 7 is out.

I fight for my dreams

I would wear Tony's glasses

I don't like the way the current Google glasses look like - although they seem to work fine. My guess is that combined with a Neurosky sort of devise one would get the sort of stuff Tony Stark is using in the latest  episode of Iron Man (III). His glasses are something I can imagine using :-)

Ravel goes trance - with a little help of me that is...

Fun Tattoo

Not sure whether Eddie will approve though

The very last evening

The week in Paris was a blast. We spend an awesome time with Karen and Tom discovering all kinds of aspects of Paris we never knew or seen before. This has been a very memorable week :-)

Montmarte

Some great football acrobatics with a great view over Paris.

Macaroon Daze

Pouring piping hot sugar liquid in the egg whites to prepare the macaroons.

Karen cannot stop taking pictures...

At Place the Royal

We are walking and walking and walking all round Paris. The weather is superb and so is the food and even more the company. This is Paris at its very best!

Le Penseur

In the garden of the Rodin Museum

Strange I think I have seen this shape somewhere before...

Brancusi in the Pompidou Museum.

Fun in the Louvre

Now: who has the best smile?

Adding some new artwork...

Still a great addition
The next couple of Days we are in Paris with our dear friends Karen & Tom - who flew all the way from CA. We started this first summer day at the Louvre where we had the fortune to be one of the very first visitors - so we had the place practically to ourselves.

Hmmm...

Flee! - The king is coming

As it turns out we will be in the center of all the activities of the Crowning of King Willem Alexander. So we have decided to flee to Germany on our motorbikes and leave the partying to the million or so people who will come to Amsterdam...

I like guys with balls

No gay propaganda beyond this point

Prime Minister Putin of Russia is visiting our neighbors today across the Amstel and there is a lot of protest against him and against for what he stands for - like the ridiculous abolishment of the rainbow flag as gay propaganda...

Kon-Tiki - a great adventure

The movie Kon-Tiki tells the story of Thor Heyerdahl and his crew crossing the pacific while trying to prove that the Polynesian people came from South-America. The movie is awesome and the production quality very high - everything looks so real; that is until you see the making of by the special effects guys from "Important Looking Pirates"...

New track on soundcloud: Live your Life

(still work in progress)

Happy Birthday Doris!

91 and still going strong!

My stapler (sound) love

Since I am using my iPads more and more to read documents, I hardly use my nice collection of Staplers anymore. I really like using them - it gives a sense of finishing up / approval / accomplishment when stapling a large pile of paper. And don't forget the sound - mechanic, solid, iron... Maybe when we combine PDF's with preview or merging documents digitally we could add the stapler sound effect - that would be really cool.

Mauro can stay!

Remember all the fuss about Mauro Manuel in 2011 and the very dubious role the CDA played? Well today Mauro got news that he is finally Dutch now and can stay! Hurray! (Even the CDA is happy about that...)

Charade an undervalued great movie

Called the best movie Hitchcock never made this movie with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn by Stanley Donen is a great mix of suspense, romance and humor. Set in Paris in the early 60's - what more do you want? The fun thing is that because of a stupid copyright mistake the film is actually in the public domain right after it was released by Universal - so you can see the whole thing on youtube. (But maybe better go for the Blue-Ray enhanced version)

SNOW!?

Wait a minute: it is almost easter now - so why does it keep on snowing in Amsterdam? Now we are certain that Al Gore was right (although we should have believed him from the start...)

Robbie Rogers don't walk away.

Robbie is only the second gay footballer in Britain to come out in public. Justin Fashanu, his solitary predecessor, hanged himself in 1998 in Shoreditch, just a short walk from where Rogers now lives... That proves it that is still very hard to come out in professional soccer today. Even Robbie think that being gay and a footballer do not match and walked away from the game. We need guys like him to stay on and show the world that there is nothing wrong with a gay player.

Body builders live longer - at least Joe did

Joe Weider died today, age 93. Proofing that with training you can live longer. Joe practically invented body building as we know it - with the dumbbells and all. He also launched Arnold Schwarzenegger as an actor.

SNOW? - I need sun NOW!

Yesterday in Maastricht there was a pack of snow - incredible...

TEFAF 2013 - Much of the same

Leighton athlete with python

Polynesian

This years TEFAF was much of the same. The same sort of antiques, the same paintings that hang now for years of the exhibition at certain dealers and... the same people. (like us!). But anyway it is an unique way to see, touch and buy art which otherwise you will only see in museums and such. So next year we"ll go again I guess.

Dinner with Ruby and Niek

At restaurant De As in Amsterdam - great!

Are you thinking what I am thinking...

Photo Model

While I am more then used to all kinds of admiration when riding my bike - this morning a (Japanese) guy actually ask his girl friend to take a picture of himself with my bike... :-)

Airport - the movie

Just downloaded the airport movie - not to be confused with the Airplane movies (which are superduper funny). This one is Star studded (Burt lancaster, Dean Martin, George Kennedy, jaqueline Bisset and many other) and is a disaster movie. It is actually quite good - based on the novel of Arthur Hailey. I will definitely go and watch the 4 sequels.

First compition of this year: Bretten Run

10k - around the corner at westerpark. Weather was fine so was the run :-)

Hmmm...

Indoor training

It is (still!) way to cold outside for a comfy training session - so we keep on training inside.

Amsterdam is one of the happiest cities in the world

In the Top 10 happiest cities Amsterdam is on number 4 and together with Paris the coldest. I can understand that Rio is number 1 - people always seem to be smiling over there. :-)

Tack Marijn!

MMM cooking

Martijn, Marque, Martijn on the last session of my cooking class. This time preparing desserts. Which was fun - but on the other hand at the end of the evening I had eaten to many different stuff.
Best dish: sausage rolls!

Why did spring disappear?

It could be so nice, lying in the sun in the park...

Dinner with Hans en Dina

At the more then excellent Indonesian Restaurant across their street: Spandershoeve. (taken and corrected with the WP8 smart lens)
