Mien is undergoing surgery for a total hip replacement in the Kennemer Gasthuis Hospital. Things are looking fine and let's hope that see can walk again soon.

Test drive
Today I had a meeting with Glen al the way up in Leeuwarden. So an excellent chance to make a test drive with the new Prius. It turned out a perfect drive, comfortable, relaxed fast and safe. So the Prius will give you everything you need from a car... On the way I made a short stop at the Lely statue at the "afsluitdijk".

Kurt Wallander and Ystad
Because of the new Prius and the fact that Eddie and I are in the middle of our Kurt Wallander craze I am planning a trip to Ystad, the city where all the Wallander stories take place in the south of Sweden. The tourist board has a sort of three day Wallander program in which you can see all the famous places. The pictures of the immediately surroundings look very promising.

finally I could pick up my new Prius today. It turned out everything I wanted it to be. Because I had a meeting at Nijenrode about the set up of the new business club I could make this picture in front of the castle.

At TED 2007 Blaise Aguera y Arcas from Live Labs at Microsoft gave a talk about the latest developments of PhotoSynth. He showed this amazing way to deliver a newspaper on screen. Indefinite zooming is seems to small tumbnails on the paper, blowing them up to full screen pictures and text. This will change the way we navigate. I am not sure if I gasp the endless possibilities of this new technique. In the mean time it is wicked awesome this to see it.

Doctor Atomic
Today the opera "Doctor Atomic"from John Adams went into its European Premiere at the Amsterdam Opera House. It was a big succes. The story, setting, music(!) and performance were all perfect. My guess is that this will turn out to be a classic. Especially the aria from Oppenheimer at the very end of act 1 is brilliant and of extraordinairy quality.

Leica D-Lux 3
Because we dropped the Sony T9 it stopped working. On the internet I found a solution for the E61-30 it gives: "Drop it again! :-)" But we did that until it was really broken... Our new camera is the beautiful Leica DLux 3. It is a Panasonic actually (and as a Panny a lot cheaper), but hey: every man needs a Leica once in his lifetime. So here it is. The lens is awesome and the picture quality far superior then the Sony T9.

Pat gave us her tips on Summer Cooking and because it was Eddie's birthday we had a special desert with Rhubarb. Again we were cooking for hours to prepare a great meal and had fun doing it and... eating it (!).

June is my back to top condition and strength month. So I rejoined my spinning class today and started burning fat. On the other hand I try to gain weight so let's see how that works out in a couple of months...
