New Book from davis Sedaris

I am a happy trooper because today Amazon brought me a new Novel of my favorite author David Sedaris . It is called “When You Are Engulfed in Flames” and it's a book about David Sedaris’s midlife crisis. While I am in a crisis myself - this is the perfect way to slash away the boring hours ahead of me :-)) This book is also a diary of his quest to quit smoking (hence the title)
- which I do not, but above all: it is hillarious!

Dinner with Ruud

Welcome home Al!

Finally: California joins the developed world...

In San Francisco, Del Martin, 87, and Phyllis Lyon, 84, longtime
gay rights activists, were the first and only couple to be wed here,
saying their vows in the office of Mayor Gavin Newsom, before emerging to a throng of reporters and screaming well-wishers.

Ms. Martin and Ms. Lyon, who have been together for more than 50 years, seemed touched, if a little amazed by all the attention.

“When
we first got together we weren’t thinking about getting married,” Ms.
Lyon said before cutting a wedding cake. “I think it’s a wonderful
day.”

We bought a magical Nautilus Shell which is lid with little leds and visited the Grand Palais.

Michel Giliberti

We saw a nice exhibition of Photographs of Michel Giliberti.

A day in Paris

After our "dark" experience with Costes we moved to the Marais in the wonderfull hotel "Duo" (which is everything Costes isn't - value for money / modern / light and sunny). The Marais is a great neighborhood with little shops, nice restaurants and not a to touristy feeling.

Dinner in Paris

Dries and Marlof invited Marijn and Me for a dinner in Paris. We stayed at Costes (overpriced, overhyped and definitely under lighted). Eddie took a day of so we could spend the weekend in Paris and visit some photo galleries.

The New Fireplace

Getty Images released a new mashup that leans on the company's vast stock image and audio assets. The flash app called Moodstream
draws on Getty's photo, video, and audio collections to create what the
company calls a "powerful brainstorming tool designed to take you in
inspiring, unexpected directions. It's really a new Fireplace: you can "watch" it for hours...

Obama buttons

This a cute project: designers design burrons for Obama 2008.  (thanks to Thijs for the tip)

Cordoba

Cordoba is an ancient town which and was an important city during the Moorish rule in the South of Spain. Its big Mosque is long being converted into a Cathedral. The old town is a maze of little allies.

Last port: Malaga

The last Town we "did" on this small round trip was Malaga. Not a very special place - but as a whole a nice town with a friendly environment.

Meanwhile at the Resort

We stayed at the Mariott Playa Andaluz which is a great resort with three pools, huge apartments, nice restaurants and a private beach.
