The amazing Olympus PEN E-P1

I bought the Micro Four Third Olympus P-E1 to get rid of the weight and dimensions of a SLR while keeping the quality and versatility. First impressions: wow! great image quality and very well build.

Another scorching hot day

I like your... watch!

Nice photoshoot in the april issue of Interview.

Hmmm..

Seaman August Provost killed in action - by (un)friendly fire

August Provost was killed while he was standing guard  Camp Pendleton. Any evidence was destroyed  by setting fire on his assigned place of duty. August was being harassed because of his sexual orientation and because he was African-American. This comes at a time when the stupid DTDA. The Navy says is killing was "just a random act" - what kind of organization is this?

Get him to the Greek

I saw the hilarious Get Him to the Greek, a spin-off of the also very funny 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Both feature Russell Brand as Aldous Snow an expired rock star. Jonah Hill is casted perfectly as the overweight, nervous and ambitious music producer Aaron. The film is a road movie where Aaron must get Aldous to LA for a live concert.  Aaron even end up in bed with his girlfriend and Aldous during a threesome ;-)
Also mentionable is Sean Combs as an over-the-top music exec.

How can I make it up to you?

Oops: the downside of Spotify...

In order to earn a minimum wage of $1,160 an artist needs 4.549.020 plays per month on Spotify.
In a month I can play max 10.800 tracks so all my artists are earning $2.16 per month...

Too warm for soccer

There are so many other things one can do! :-)

Moving to (yet) an other office!

We moved to our new swanky office at the IJ river with a view of Amsterdam. I never thought our desk would fit trough the window, but our movers proved me wrong :-)

Scissors Sisters - Night Work dissapointing

I am not a really big fan of SS and their new album Night Work isn't helping to change that. It sounds unspirational / prefab / standard without any surprise or great songs... So all that's left is the album art...

Ken: the hero of Toy Story III

I really had to laugh about TS III and the role Ken played in it. He's absolutely over the top and really likes his closet... ;-)  The promo film for TS III with Ken is also hilarious:
Grovin' with Ken:

Taste Amsterdam - the day I had to help out Ramon Beuk

In the Cooking Theater of Taste Amsterdam I met Ramon Beuk and gave him some tips on how to improve his cooking... ;-)

The Best Music iPad app: The Korg iElectribe

I have istalled quite a few music apps on my iPad. So far I liked loop based ones like
Looptastic HD and Groovemaker House / Hip-Hop / D'n'B, Smule Magic Piano of course and for Sheet music
Muzibook.

My favorite is absolutely however is iELECTRIBE from Korg. It faithfully recreates Korgs' historic ELECTRIBE-R’s entire sound engine – including analog synthesis modeling and PCM synthesis, along with virtual Valve Force tube modeling and the feeling on the iPad is truly amazing. The iPad actualy feels like a machine...
The sounds are like the original and the price: just $ 9.99...

A Gay kiss to Steve Jobs

After my post of May 19, it took still a month before some other blogs took interest in the censorship of "The Importance of Being Earnest" of Oscar Wilde as drawn by Tom Bouden.
Slate and TechCrunch wrote about it as did Steven Fry  and finally Apple gave in:

"We made a mistake. When the art panel edits of  the graphic novel adaptation of Oscar Wilde's Importance of Being Earnest app were brought to our attention, we offered the developers the opportunity to resubmit their original drawings and update their apps."

So let's hope that Apple learned form their mistake and that in the future we can see boys kissing on apps... (IU haven't seen the update by publisher "De Bonte" of the app though...)
NB: The nice thing about this whole affair is of course that now the whole world knows about this great comic!

Fly to high

I was looking for new tracks for my running playlist when I remembered "Fly to High" from Janis Ian which she made with Giorgio Moroder way back in 1979 (that is 30 years ago!) so no wonder that the Janis I remembered is completely different than the woman on the recent pic I found on the Net...
Nice track though...
