Petra: One of the Seven Wonders of The Acient World
In the middle of no-where (and actually halfway of the famous spice caravan route in ancient days) lies Petra a village that is from about 300 BC. It is unbelievable to see the facades carved out of the rocks. A small caynon leads to the village and it is no wonder that only sice 1812 Petra was rediscovered. We went in very late the first day and very early (06:00) the next day and had the place practically for ourselves. In this quiet surroundings things got even more mystical. It was worth the trip on its own and is something the people of Jordan are rightly very proud.
For me it had the same impact as the Piramids and the valley of the kings in Egypt: Stunning!
