Amat victoria curam!

We drove 8 hours today before arriving at our destination: the medieval town of Einbeck. Through countless fields of rapeseed, along the weber river and little ancient villages. We also saw the Eder dam , famous for the attack in 1943 (as told in the famous movie the Dam Busters); it is really an impressive dam, build in 1908 and very hard to destruct indeed.

We are on the road again. This time we are heading for Weimar and Thuringen - Germany. The trip to our first stop was perfect because we didn't encountered the expected rain storm that was for casted.
Our hotel in Ruthen is on the top of a hill with a very nice view (and our first Schnitzel with bratkartofelen... )

Yet an other Boralis company started today: Menuplanner. This novel daily recipe letter we concieved together with Kees Klomp and Kosmos (The publishing giant behind Jamie Olivier and all your other favorite cooking books).
The beta release is based on a very simple promise: we provide our subscribers every day with a recipe that let them prepare a simple, wholesome and honest meal for 4 persons within 15 minutes or so. The coming months we will finetune the mail and its website.

The Boralis tree is growing rapidly and we took a share in Usabilla of Paul Veugen. Usabilla is a great new concept where the visitors help to improve the usability of a website. Easy, Quick and Cheap - what more do you need? :-)
Paul is a brilliant guy and we are very happy to be able to work with him on this project.

Nicholas Cage new movie "Knowing" is nice in a Special FX kind of way. The story however ends dreadful...  A funny thing happened while watching this movie in the cinema. At a certain moment Nicholas is searching for terrorists in New York and things get really tense. All of a sudden all the (emergency) lighting in the cinema flashed on and we were flooded in light. Some people screamed - because we all thought something actually could happen to us :-)
It turned out a little mistake for the guys who run the theater...

A really funny movie about a pirate radio ship in the late 60's. Amazing that it is based in real facts. I liked young Carl and thought that Philip Seymour Hoffman steels the show. The soundtrack is quite nice too by the way.

Just before the Ferrari's of Frits Kroymans will be under the hammer - we have the Ferrari auction at RMauctions. The Testa Rossa will go for about 10 million Euro, but I think I go for the 1950 Coupe...

I added a new bargrooves album to my collection "Over Ice" It's great lounge music - perfect while working of just sitting in the sun outside (or even better: doing both things at the same time...)

WikiHow,  released an interesting iPhone
app. It gives you access to wikiHow's vast collection of how-to articles about topics ranging from how to be a twitter celebrity to how to build your own picnic table.
Most interestingly, the application also contains a "Survival Kit,"
which is cached on the phone for offline reading, and
which includes articles about topics like the Heimlich Maneuver or how to survive a plane crash.

From last weeks' New Yorker

Because of Easter it seemed a good idea to finally edit my Easter Island movie. For years I wasn't able to because iMovie didn't work with my JVC Everio hard disk camcorder. Luckily iMovie 09 does and so here it is...

The latest Buddenbrook movie from Heinrich Breloer is something campy. It is as Richard Clayderman meets the Buddenbrooks and as if this movie was made for the weekly "Der große ZDF-Sonntagsfilm" in stead of the cinema. But it is good fun anyway for two hours.

I was just about to leave my house and was al dressed up in my motor gear when the bank called: I stumbled to get my iPhone and it fell on the (concrete) garage floor: It was a major disaster - the SCREEN WAS BROKEN! :-(
A couple of hours later I informed at T-Mobile what a repair would cost me. € 530! OOPS!
But then I found PDA Tech in Den Haag - a nice Turkish guy (motorcycle freak just like me) told me to come by and he would fix it for just € 75 - including 3 months of warranty.
It was an amazing experience: right for my own eyes this guy repaired my iPhone in just half an hour. Complete with an original brand new screen. I am as happy as a pig in mud :-))) If ever you have  a problem with your iPhone remember PDA Tech - he will fixe it a couple of hours later (even in a weekend).

Niek bought a very nice Ferrari 456 in racing green. I must admit: I am jealous - but maybe we have to an accelaration test between his (12V, 435 Hp, 0 - 100KM 5.2 sec) green Hulk and my Milky motorbike ( 4 inline, 0 - 100KM 3.5 sec)...

While I am very happy about the lastest developments in Sweden, Iowa & Vermont there are some regions in the world where things are quite different. In the past two months, the bodies of as many as 25 boys and men suspected of being gay have turned up in the huge Shiite enclave of Sadr City, Iraq. In most cases, it is the families that are killing the gay son. Clerics in Sadr City have urged followers to help root out homosexuality in Iraqi society, and the police have begun their own crackdown on gay men. When will this madness end?

I am not sure what to expect from a whole book about Shrugs, but just in case I ordered it today from Amazon...

Next week the new OSS 117 with Jean Dujardin will premiere - As a warm up I bought 44 vintage OSS117 pocket books. I am not sure whether I will be able to read them all by next week - but with Easter coming up, I will give it a try :-) When I was 12 years old - these were some of my favorite books.

The BMW art collection is on view at the Grand Central Terminal NYC starting this week - I wish I could be there.
