Paradise

Because of my mother her birthday we made a boat trip (with The Paradise) through the Amsterdam channels. It is always great to see Amsterdam from the water and to see my nieces Iris, Renee, Robin and nephew Jeroen.
Oh yes, and my mother liked it as well...

One charging-plug for all phones

What is going on? Cellphone manufacturers getting together and making a decision that makes sense!
Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Nokia have agreed to use micro USB as a charging-plug standard for phones.

Yippee!! If you are like me this will be great news. Every time I
get a new cell phone I tend to buy a number of chargers, so I have
drawers full of redundant chargers.

For the cynic there is one small cloud - the mini USB chargers, that
so nearly became the standard will need replacing, signaling one last
chance to make a chunk of profit. And... what about my Blackberry??

A very disturbing post on youtube of a lecture of John Kerry at The University of Florida. Andrew Meyer asked some questions school officials didn't like. He was brutally  dragged away from the microphone, cuffed and tasered with thousand of volts.

Mr Kerry has criticized the arrest of Mr Meyer, suggesting that he could have
dealt with the heckler himself.

"In 37 years of public appearances, through wars, protests and highly
emotional events, I have never had a dialogue end this way. I believe I
could have handled the situation without interruption,” he said.

The 7 (SEVEN!) police officers are on leave and the whole affair while be investigated. What's next? Ask a question and you are shot?

PS You know what the most horror part of this story is that NOBODY did anything to help this guy. They just let it happen.... :-(

Information needs to be free

Just like water, information will always look for the least resistance and will flow to consumers everywhere, anytime and for free.

The NYT and WSJ will open up their paid sections of their websites and all the other newspapers will have to follow. Advertising will be their new businessmodel (well: what's new anyway?). I think that they have to look for new advertising models the just display or adwords advertising. Firefox extentions like adblock plus (thx!) are washing out all obvious advertising and in the near future every visitor will have such a feature. So what will it be? sponsoring? links? advertorials?

Finally! Dentist and doctor appointments made easy.

The internet is exploding with all kinds of great new websites and concepts: one of those is ZocDoc. They really cracked the appointment hasle. Great interface, just the information you need. Pre selection for insurance purposes, maps, rating: the lot.

I guess that within 3 years we all make appointments with our medical proefssionals this way.

My new diet and traing scheme is causing me to lose weight probably a little to fast: in the last 4 weeks I lost 5 kilo's.

So now I am only a poorly 87 kilo's. 22 fat %. My original goal was to dive below the 20% mark but I believe that all that I am losing is musscle for which I trained months and months till I dropped...

I will wait till I reached the 85 kilo mark and decide then what to do next...
