Niek and Noor

We had dinner at "Het Arsenaal" with our friends Niek and Noor. Although you cannot see it at this particular (I really need a new extra small camera) picture, Noor "had her eyes done" which means that see has very big eyes now... :-)
The food was perfect, the company even better so it was a great evening.

Christian Gays

A very insightful article in the Volkskrant today about Christian Gays in the Bible belt of Holland. In Kampen lives Mattheo (21) e.g. who is convinced Christian  but gay as well. He is abandoned by his parents and everyone else he knew. He tried to commit suicide  a year ago  and only when he met an other gay Christian at his church choir came to terms with his sexuality.
Unbelievable that this still happens in Holland where according to the latest (SCP) rapport 85% of the population think that gay people should live their life the way they think they should. (and only a mere 6% doesn't agree)
It is good to read that Mattheo now lives together with his boyfriend, still believes firmly in God but knows to  combine that with an active gay life.

Dianda  left the VEH (association of home owners) and started as the CEO of the Rutgers Nisso Groep, the Dutch Expert Centre on Sexuality, which dedicates itself to promoting sexual and reproductive heath. That's something else :-)
I saw my old friends from Funda: Jeroen and Simon and met some interesting new people as well.

At the wonderfull  "Stadsarchief"  from architect De Bazel, Hans van Dijk - A very well known copywriter presented his book "Zapklare brokken"  (Small bites) about how advertising really works. It was great to see a lot of old advertising buddies. At I was happy that Hans gave me his book. (If only he remembers to write a personal note in it...)
- note that my Curve didn't cope with the light in the building and so I have this weird picture -

Google Options Make Masseuse a Multimillionaire

Bonnie Brown was fresh from a nasty divorce
in 1999, living with her sister and uncertain of her future. On a lark,
she answered an ad for an in-house masseuse at Google,
then a Silicon Valley start-up with 40 employees. She was offered the
part-time job, which started out at $450 a week but included a pile of
Google stock options that she figured might never be worth a penny. Although no one keeps an official count of Google millionaires, it is
estimated that 1,000 people each have more than $5 million worth of
Google shares from stock grants and stock options.

Atonement

Atonement is an overwhelming movie about an impossible love during the late 1930, beginning WW II. It's like poetry with beautiful cinematography and moving music (from composer Dario Marianelli). The acting is stunning. A must see!
