Engine Trouble and a new way to start my bike

After a short trip to Geiranger town my bike was dead. It didn't wanted to start and the alarm was behaving very funny. the orange "engine trouble" warning light was blinking and things were not looking good. Eddie and I discussed our possibilities: which were not a lot being in the middle of nowhere... The first Yamaha dealer was a 1 1/2 hour drive. So I discussed with our hotel manager the options and he suggested that I would try to start the bike while riding of a steep hill in second gear. That did the trick and the engine was running again - we took no chances and drove to Lillehammer right away. There the local Dealer checked the battery and said evreything was fine. So what happened? I have no clue - but the bike is OK now!

Alesund was destroyed by a fire back in 1907. It is rebuild complete in Art Nouveau style - and so makes a very pretty site. It is build on 3 islands, so the whole city is contected with water.

The road from Kristiansund to Alesund starts with a scentic 8 km stretch that goes from island to island by a sequence of bridges - The Atlanterhavsveien. It's a great ride and a marvelous piece of engineering.

A day in Kristiansund

Kristiansund was wiped out by the Germans in 1940 - so not a lot is left of what once a pretty town. No it is an off shore booming town with huge specialized ships, money thrown on bridges and tunnels.

Stiklestad

The cultural centre at Stiklestad shows the birth of the Norwegian Nation. It is a boring, for foreigners even more boring display of national pride... We luckily had this small village on the way, because it is a waste to ride especially to it...

Namsen Salmon Stairs

It used to be a very nice water fall - but the Norwegians  decided back in 1945 that they needed it for hydropower. So the Namsen water fall is now the Namsen hydro power plant, with salmon stairs.

Mosjoen

We are back under the Artic Circle (my Garmin GPS is working properly again) and reached the oldest town of Norway - Mosjoen. At a river between mountains, it is a very pretty little town.

The only cave in Scandinavia which is lighted is the Green (light) Cave near Mo I Ran. It is a 4km long maze. Our guide took us for a little private tour in the cave with an under ground river. It was very narrow and slippery (That's why we smiled when we could out again...)

Unlike Sweden where every house is brown/red, the houses in Noway all seem to have their own color. Here are some ransom examples in a small village. Cute.
