The Day I stored my Soul...

my soul in the container...
I heard of Dr. David Flintstein and his genius process of storing souls some time ago. He can extract and store your soul in a state-of-the art cold soul storage on Rosenvelt Island. I couldn't resist and now my soul is at peace and waiting for me when needed... You should try it to - it feels GREAT to be without a soul for a while!

A beautifully contained mini-drama with Joey Tuccio about a boy with an internet date in West Hollywood. Intriguing , some suspense and a surprising ending...

Alexander McCall Smith - the master of storytelling

For me it all started with the "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" - now a major BBC Televison series. - of which I have read almost every part. Then I moved on to the "44 Scotland Street series" followed by " The Sunday Philosophy Club". Whether the novels are based in Botswana or Edinburgh - they are always set in a world that is affectionately detailed and described with much love and passion. The characters are real - the plots intriguing and fun and they demonstrate a huge amount of general & art knowledge - so as a reader you are (finally) taken serious.
Luckily I still have some 12 or so novels to go, but how fast Alexander can write best sellers - I need them quicker!

Utada Hikaru cannot sing - but who cares...?

Ever since I discovered Utada ("First Love") while in Japan back in 2001 I have collected her albums. So no wonder that "Baby Come back" is my new powersong at my iPod Nano Nikeplus. Unfortunately I came across this video of Utada of her first ever live performance at USA Television - It's terrible... ;-)

Judith Leyster

The National Gallery of Art has a great exhibit of Judith Leyster 1609 - 1660 - one of the few woman painters during the 17st century in Holland. She is quite similar as Frans Hals (with whom she worked in Haarlem).

  1. Cassette - once a cool music format. Nobody uses them anymore (I do not even have them anymore)
  2. Floppy disk - utterly useless from the time we calculated memory in bytes
  3. CD - when we still thought of albums instead of songs
  4. Book - from the time people used trees to read
  5. Software - Once upon a time there was a company called Microsoft...
  6. Cigarette - Silly habit
  7. Home telephone - In earlier times only in hallways
  8. Newspaper - Long, long ago people read (old) news only once a day - op paper.
  9. Calender - before facebook and google wave we wrote things and contact in a paper notebook
  10. photo film - when photographing was still an art form without photoshop.
