Alexander McCall Smith - the master of storytelling

For me it all started with the "
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" - now a major
BBC Televison series. - of which I have read almost every part. Then I moved on to the "
44 Scotland Street series" followed by "
The Sunday Philosophy Club". Whether the novels are based in Botswana or Edinburgh - they are always set in a world that is affectionately detailed and described with much love and passion. The characters are real - the plots intriguing and fun and they demonstrate a huge amount of general & art knowledge - so as a reader you are (finally) taken serious.
Luckily I still have some 12 or so novels to go, but how fast Alexander can write best sellers - I need them quicker!
