An other day in Warsaw

Because my mother are sisters maried with two brothers - the genetic material of Ruud is almost the same. Add up a similair upbringing (neighborhood, school, holidays etc. etc.) and you almost have a clone :-)
The children of Ruud and Christl remind me much of my brothers and sister and children of my brothers and sister. Funny how that is.

A day in Warsaw

It was nice to visit Warsaw again. Of course during the set up of Funda Polska I have been back and forward to my old hometown - but every time something new has been added.

Good new Intercontinental

We stayed in my favorite Intercontinental hotel in Warsaw. Right in the middle of the centre and with a swimming pool on the 43st floor - excellent rooms and service.

A Senior trip to Warsaw

I flew to Warsaw today with my mother and aunt to visit my nephew Ruud and his wife Christl. The flight was only 2 hours but a bomb scare on Chopin airport made us wait for a couple of hours...

He didn't mention middle class again...

I must admit: I forgot to set the DVR for the second debate. But I found on The New York Times website a brilliant interactive video of this event. You can search for words, go to subjects (red for McCain, blue for Obama) and the transcript will scroll accordingly.  It is the best Video application I have ever seen - Maybe next time I skip the DVR all together and watch the third debate of The NYT website immediately...

Lucky is back :-)

Thanks Photoshop for saving the day!

The strange case of Mariannes' Horse

I was visiting my dear friend Marianne and her animal farm. I made a picture with my iPhone of one of her horses - at least I thought I did. This was the result... ?

At the front door of Boris

Next web Salon

The Next Web Salon was a nice event at Boris en Tessas' home. I met new interesting people, heard some nice stories and had great food.

We are in this together.

Tom is a guy at the Oscar Romero School in Hoorn and he is suffering from bone cancer. Because of his radiation treatment he lost his hair: so did his class mates :-))

Erwin Olaf: Fall

New work from photographer Erwin Olaf of his Fall series. Now at the The Hague Gemeente Museum.

Nobody can run a large cooperation but me...

"To run a business you have to have a lifetime of experience in
business," Carly says. "But that's not what Sarah Palin, John McCain, Joe
Biden or Barack Obama are doing." Isn't Carly the same woman that was fired at HP as CEO because she was destroying the company?
If John McCain's top economic advisor doesn't think he can run a
corporation, how on Earth can he run the largest economy in the world
in the midst of a financial crisis?... :-|

Meanwhile in the appartment of Carrie Bradshaw...

BlackBerry, ‘The Miracle John McCain Helped Create’

McCain’s senior policy adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin pushed
the senator’s economic qualifications today, highlighting his role on
the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. But when pressed about what McCain
did as a committee member that gave him the kind of experience needed
to handle the current market turmoil, Holtz-Eakin did something
unexpected: He pulled his BlackBerry out of his suit jacket pocket.

“He did this,” Holtz-Eakin said, referring to McCain’s role in
developing telecommunications in the U.S. “The premier innovation in
the past 15 years comes right through the Commerce Committee. You’re
looking at the miracle that John McCain helped create and that’s what
he did.” ;-)))

The battle of the Ardennes

Everywhere were you ride you can see stuff related to the battle in 1943 between the last german forces and the advancing Allied troops. This tank seems to be stuck in this villages (Celles)...

If the rain wasn't wet enough...

The first thing we did when we arrived in Spa was... to swim and to linger in the Spa - which is a very modern complex. So modern that Ingo had an agrument with the electronic lockers ;-)

The WET way down

Together with Ingo I went of to a long weekend riding our bikes in The Belgium Ardennes. It was pooring with rain all the way down to Belgium. Luckily we were wearing our Rukka Motor suits - which are terrific and we were completely dry and warm ourselves. It took us - through a special tour almost 7 hours to reach Spa (the orginal one).

I would be good for 6 households I guess...

It sounds like something you'd only see on the Discovery Channel:
people pedaling ferociously to create enough energy to power the
television, stereo and lights. Launched last week, his "human-powered" gym  (The Green Micro Gym) is one of few fitness
centers in the world that runs on power generated by people working out. The goal is to generate 100% of the electricity used in the Gym. With my workout routine that would be peanuts...

Rudi van Dantzig 75

I was with Noelle and eddie at the special ballet performance for Rudi van Dantzig commemorating his 75 birthday. It was a unbalanced evening with some highlight and some downsides.

The house of Barack

I did see it at the moment but good old Thijs sent me this analysis of NYT - the stage of the democratic convention was a copy of... the White House setting!

I just don't get it...
