The very last campaign activity of the whole election took place at Marconi Plaza Philadelphia: Joe Biden came by to speak and to urge people to vote in this crucial state. At 08:30 the event started and after a prayer by a 90 year old nun, the pledge to the flag, the mayor of Philadelphia, Congressmen, Governors and baseball players at 11:00 PM A long colonnade with flashing lights arrived: Joe and Jill. The crowd went berserk and Joe delivered to goods by giving a passioned speech. ("They called Barack every name they could - but tomorrow they can only call him one name: Mr President!" ;-) ). The speech was live on television. And we returned to the hotel tired but satifsfied, knowing that election day will go just the way we want it to be...
It must have been difficult for Hillary to rally for Obama the last weeks - but she did and how! It shows that made of the right stuff. I hope that she will play a role in reforming the health care system in the USA. She certainly deserved to play an important role in future government.

All the networks are showing non stop in HD election news counting down the seconds and presenting ever new poll results. Everybody getting crazy, very nervous and anxious. Commercials of Barack are constantly airing and esspecially here in Pensylvania the race is very very tight. Both candidates must win this state to win...
We arrived in Philadelphia via Newark Airport easy with our Towncar during a short ride. The stay in the Four Seasons is terrific and Philadelphia it self is great. Here's where the US of A really started and we couldn't have a better start of our election trip then going to independence hall and see how history was made. Pennsylvania has zero tax on clothes - so we bought some (and more). Television here is 24/7 election news - which is exactly what we want... ;-)
Three little words: Yes We Can!
Four days to go: Four mistakes made by McCain:
1) Choosing Sarah Palin as running mate
2) Voting with George Bush 90% of the time

I took an advanced motor riding course a couple of weeks ago and received the pix only yesterday...
Jesus Encinar is the CEO and founder of the successful Spanish Real Estate website Idealista. He was at the conference which was an excellent opportunity to catch up with him. He is a charming, highly intelligent and smart guy. Marijn and I took him to our favorite thai restaurant in Berlin Mitte and we had a great evening. Hope to see and speak to him more often.
We had several interesting talks today. About design, user interface - social communities and start ups.
I was not worried about the ING troubles untill I came into AH today and saw this ATM... :-)
Powells' endorsement was not a huge surprise but his statement about his endorsement was excellent. I really liked this segment: "I'm also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of
the party say. And it is permitted to be said such things as, "Well,
you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim." Well, the correct answer is, he
is not a Muslim, he's a Christian. He's always been a Christian. But
the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong
with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not
America. Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old
Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president? "
How true!

Because of an item at the Antiques Roadshow two weeks ago, I remembered how much fun it was to read the Biggles Books. So I ordered 16 of the best (at a publisher in India...) and started reading them again. WE Johns wrote 96 Biggles books between 1932 - 1970. I guess I only read 30 or so. Only once a (very bad) movie was made out of the series: why doesn't Spielberg gives it a try? 96 books published
between 1932 and 1970
The funny movie in the tradition of Amercian Pie with Josh Zuckerman as the new Jason Biggs has some hilarious moments and although the predictacle ending a awesome script.
An excellent documentary of PBS about the election with the story so far: Frontline.
The race is over.
If the election were tomorrow, Obama would
win all of the states John Kerry carried and add Iowa, New Mexico,
Colorado, Virginia, Nevada, Ohio and Florida. Barack Obama is
campaigning in Indiana, which last went for a Democrat in 1964 and
North Carolina, which has gone for a Democrat only once in thirty-four
years. At the same time John McCain has pulled out of Michigan and
Sarah Palin has been forced to visit Nebraska.
The economy is simply bigger than the rogues gallery that John McCain is conjuring up.
The only unknowns are the size of the margin and the breadth of the Democratic advantage in the next Congress....
Now I only have to get rid of the due steps and slip on a new Acropovic exhaust...
