National History Museum at the University of Oslo has just opened a first-ever museum exhibition dedicated to gay animals. “Against Nature?” does not tell zoologists anything new. Homosexuality has been recorded in some 1,500 species so far, and been well documented in about a third of these cases; it has been known since the time of Aristotle, who thought he witnessed two male hyenas having sex with one another. Scientists have often turned a blind eye on animal homosexuality. In one study are where over 95 % of all sexual activity was between males, the researcher noted it as “sparring”, a form of ritual combat... :-)
