Charlotte Bronte's novel Jane Eyre has been made into a TV movie or film many times before, so it is extraordinary that  director Cary Fukunaga can create a compelling new version of this 1847 novel. (Originally written under the pseudonym of Currer Bell).

The acting by both Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender is stunning (Oscar material?) and Lady Dench is always nice to watch. This version has a murky, haunted feeling about it and at the viewing nobody could withhold their tears at the ending...
