Meunier

One of my favorite sculptors is Constantin Meunier, a Belgian painter and sculptor around 1900. His docker in front of the Antwerp city hall is a nice example of his work.

Eurogames 2007

I went to Antwerp with Hans to watch the Eurogames 2007. Hans will  compete in the swimming compettion. I considered doing wrestling but decided against it and just make a fun long weekend out of it.

Tram takes wrong direction

This morning when I went to the dentist I stumbled upon this tram which apparently took the wrong direction and landed into a meadow...

Ross Burkinshaw

It took a while but finally the picture of Ross Burkinshaw by David Short is framed and hangs on one of the kitchen floor walls (around the corner of our copy of Boxing school by Erwin Olaf)
The frame is perfectly executed in pure matte black polish by Guy Saint Hill of De Roo and Saint Hill framers of Haarlem. Just the way they do for The Frans Hals museum and the Rembrandts in The Rijksmuseum.

My new Computer! Uh... Mac!

Overview-heroProdshot_30_inch_3display
    * Two 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon (so 4 in total)
    * 8 GB (4 x 2GB) - That should do the trick...
    * 4 * 750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s (yep: 3 terrabytes)
    * ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
    * Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)
    * Two 16x SuperDrives
    * Both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
    * Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple wireless Mighty Mouse - U.S. English
    * Mac OS X - U.S. English

Blazingly  fast, super cool and also with MS Vista. But even better: ready for Leopard!

I was a little bit tired of the same old boring PC interface, tired of all the security updates and the viruses attacks. On the other hand I am more then satisfied with my MacBook, so the next logical step is to go Mac all the way...

Blablabla...

Women don't talk more than men. Really, they don't.

Really.

I couldn't believe it myself as well because popular wisdom would have it that women are much chattier than men, speaking 20,000 words a day, vs. the average man's 7,000.

But a study being published today debunks that
stereotype. Both men and women use about 16,000 words a day, says the
new research, in Science Magazine. On thing is sure though: we men make more sense ;-)

John McClane is back

AmitypreoJustin Long
After a disappointing Ocean 13 I needed some old fashioned uncomplicated action and luckily that is exactly what Bruce Willis is giving us in his latest installment of the Die Hard series. It is funny and will keep you on the edge of your seat for more then two hours. His side kick (Justin Long) is a young clone of Keenau Reeves. The stunts are "real" and not computer generated. Kevin Smith as a nice  support role as "Warlord".  A must see!

I digg it

Finally my present for Marijn arrived: the Digg it button kit from adafruit. It is just a useless gadget allowing you to digg live with the push of a button. I hope Marijn can actually assemble  the kit....

Will Barrack break the record?

Will Barack be able to hit his goal of 350,000 donations by 250.000 people by June 30th? It would signal a big and deep support and once again shows the importance of The Internet in this campaign, both of the candidate's website, his apearance on Youtube and his email donation campaign.

Unfortuately I cannot contribute being a foreigner otherwise Barrack would have made his goal weeks ago!

Ratatouille

The download of Ratatouille was completed just in time for viewing today so we could enjoy the movie (which is great and a must-see) before it hits the theaters this weekend... :-)
If you don't want to wait for the download have a look at Yahoo Movies for the first 9 minutes and many nice clips.

Popfly alpha

I received an invitation of Suzanne of the Popfly team of Microsoft for their Alpha release. It's a mash up concept where users like me without any programming knowledge can make a mash up website. I followed the simple tutorial and had a Twitter Map website within seconds. Tastes for more... so I am certainly going to make more of this.
